A friend passed this book on to me stating that it was "interesting" and it is.
Some may call it "irreverent, blasphemous, idiotic, exaggerated" and so on, however, it is "interesting".
Written by Seth Grahame-Smith, the Unholy Night, (Grand Central Publishing, NY, 2012) revolves around Christmas Eve and the birth of the Christ Child.
Many of the Biblical names that we have heard many times such as Pontius Pilate, Herod, Caesar, the magus, Herod, Balthazar, Mary and Joseph and others are prominent players in the book.
It is an alternate ? (author's opinion) of what may have occurred that night involving the Three Kings and the aforementioned people. Of course, frankincense and myrhh, gold and riches and the devastating heat of the desert are all tied in as well.
The author is the New York Times best selling author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and also adapted the screenplay for Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter along with numerous other works.

Have we been told the truth about the CT shooting?
I don't believe we have!
I just saw a replay of an NBC newscast where it was announced that the CT shooter did not use an AR-15, as it was found in his car later, and that 4 pistols were found inside the school. I also read that the guns used belonged to the shooters mother. The mother knew her son had a problem & allowed him access.
In the meantime, the politicians have rushed to push laws through that have not been adequately researched nor have they gone through the proper procedure such as adhering to our U.S. Constitution. I understand that the president, by 23 Executive Orders, issued gun control laws. I have not read them, but this is outrageous! Things like this are to be decided by Congress. Where are our reps??
New York's Governor Cuomo also issued new laws which I have not read, however, again this should be up to the State Legislature, not one person.
There are more gun laws on the books than one can comprehend. These laws will only hurt the law abiding and will do nothing to stop the bad people as they will do anything to get guns, knives, hand grenades, etc.
In Australia since gun control was enacted, crime of every type has increased. The goal of every would be dictator, is to disarm the citizens.

Another great book I happened on!
I had read Gorky Park by Martin Cruz Smith years ago and had really enjoyed it as well the informative way he wrote describing life in Moscow.
That book was nominated by Time magazine as "the thriller of the 80's" and became a film.He wrote a sequel, Polar Star which I have not read but will.
His subsequent writing, Red Square, HarperCollins, 1992, London, picks up with our hero, Special Investigator Arkady Renko in August 1991 as the old Soviet Union is struggling to achieve some form of democracy & the Baltic States are making moves to attain the same. His extremely tough & deprived life in Moscow is described through the story (for instance he has 2 police cars so that he has one to use & the other is for parts, and the lack of plentiful food) & when he has to travel to Berlin, after the wall is down, he is almost overwhelmed due to the contrast in the culture. Couple that with his very risky mission looking for a murderer and the chance that he could "just disappear" at the hands of his enemies,which includes some of his superiors,and it is hard to put the book down.
Mr. Smith also wrote Stallion Gate, Nightwing, Canto for a Gypsy and Gypsy in Amber which I will look for. Great read.

An interesting novel, could be called "chilling!"
The Odyssey Project, by Lawrence De Marino, 1989, Pageant, Pub.
I recently mixed this novel in my wide scope of books that I have read, am reading , or will read.
Sometimes I have four books going at the same time which one can apply to the mood that one is in at the time that one desires to read.
A madman, who has slowly through time, attained enormous power in our government, wants to exploit the fact that a new ice age and glacier is approaching and makes elaborate preparations to move our citizens to South America using armed might to conquer and inhabit many countries there
. Easy read, not bad for before bed.
I have numerous others I am reading, or have read that I will post here later.
